Feb. 17.— “Ring,” a little dog held fast rocks in a narrow underground p: ageway for 110 hours, walked from his prison just before dawn and bounded into the arms of his master with tail wagging furiously. Twenty men, who through the night had worked with pick and shovel, paused expectantly while Willie Nel- son, 19, crawled into the passagewa at 3:45 a, m. Willie made his way 30 feet to where the dog was lodged and pulled the little animal free with an iron hook. As the dog bounded past Willie and out into the open, 20 hats went up and shouts split the countryside while F. V. Kelly, bachelor-farmer, gathered “Ring” in his arms and wrapped his overcoat about him. Kelley carried his pet home for some hot milk, the first meal for the dog since fast’ Thursday when he chased a fox into the passageway and became imprisoned. The fox was re- moved yesterday, dead. “Ring” had killed it. News of the rescue preceded the band into the dark, quiet little tow: Shafts of light framed neighbors who opened doors to hear the tidi (P)-- by “Ring,” a friend of the community, had become a popular concern in his predicament.
