Meeting Hears Original Cowboy Songs At the regular meeting yesterday afternoon of the Minishoshe Chapter of the D, A. R. in the Rotary Room at the McKenzie Hotel, Mrs. R. W. Shinners entertained by singing an interesting group of original cowboy songs employed at roundup time by western ranchers to quiet the cattle. A feature of the business of the day was the voting of the annual contribution of the chapter to a International College at Springfield, Mass., where educated foreigners are trained in Americanization work. In connection with the plan to mark historic Burleigh County sites, while no official action was taken at yesterday's meeting, instructions were given the Committee on His- toric Sites, of which Mrs. Phillip J. Meyer is chairman, and Mrs. W. S. Stratton, secretary, to investigate prices of bronze markers. The grave of the Indian scout, Chaska, will probably be the first site to be marked by the Minishoshe Chapter. OBSERVE PAST EXALTED RULERS. NIGHT Three hundred Elks were in at- tendance last evening at Patterson Hall for the observation of Past Exalted Rulers Night. ‘Commencing with a carnival and parade headed by the Dynamiters-Candidates Elks Band of Mandan, and a concert in front of the Elks Home and Patter- son Hall, three ten round boxing bouts were put on at the latter * hall. New Bismarck lodge officers were then installed, Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler L. H. Connelly of Mandan, being in charge. With Alex Rosen presiding, the initiation of sixteen candidates by the Past Exalted Rulers followed, the Mandan team putting on the work for the second section. Refreshments were served follow- ing the initiation, at the Elks home. HERE FOR WEEKEND Miss Mary Oshanyk of Wilton is in town to spend the weekend with s Theresa Rose of Langdon who has been teaching out of Hebron during the past year, and will return home shortly following the close of school this week. Miss Rose plans to spend a week in Fargo before re- turning to Langdon. At Bridge Yesterday Mrs, Edward B, Cox entertained at bridge yesterday afternoon at her home on West Thayer Street.
