Encampment ‘of National Guard Makes Fine.Record PRAISED , BY CAPTAIN Quartermaster Unit of This City Also Wins Praise For “Feeds” Provided * Company A, National Guard, rolled into Bismarck at midnight Saturday night after two weeks in Camp Graf- ton’2t Devils Lake. The National Guard Encampment was attended by over 1,000 guardsmen from all parts of the state. The boys of Company A will testify that the seven regular army captains who acted as instructors at the camp were there for business. The camp was.a‘ steady grind of eight hours a’ day—drills, marches, ménual of arms, map-making, sketching and military manuevers. ' 3 Capt. Herman Brocopp,’ command- ing Company A, returned with praise for the members of the organization. Company A led.the First Battalion and, bore the brunt of,all the ‘work. The boys came through in fine shape, he. said. _ There was a hike of the last day of regular work at camp. The guards- men started out at 7:30 a, m. and got in at 5 p.‘m. Tre First Batta- lion started after the Second and Third Battalion on this'match. Cott. ,.pany A came in ahead of, al others Sand but one man dropped out'on the -long, march. Two.of the members gf the company, Hunter and Hamilton, received special instruc- tion on the Browning gutomiatic rifle and will instruct other members of the company here. The second Bismarck unit at camp, the quartermaster detachment, which was under command of Lieut. Thor- alson, was kept busy during the camp and according to members of Com- pany A royal “feeds” were’ provided. Some of the members of the Q.
