Personal Mrs. Jardine Is Honor Guest at Club Luncheon The Thursda¥®Musical Club enter- tained at luncheon at the McKenzie hotel Wednesday noon in honor of Mrs. J. A. Jardine of Fargo, the presi- dent of the state federation of music clubs. The honor guest and fourteen members of the club enjoyed the luncheon which was served at a table decorated with a huge bouquet of tu- lips. Mrs. Jardine was presented with the bouquet of tulips. Following the luncheon the guesta gathered in Mrs. Jardine’s room where she gave a most inspiring and interesting talk on “Work of Music Clubs in the State.” She also gave an outline of the plans for the May Fes- tival to be held in Grand Forks, Mrs. Jardine left yesterday after- noon for Mandan and from there for Mevnsen where she will present the work of the Music Clubs before the tauvs UL DULN places. Red Cross Active In Burleigh County —_—_— The Burleigh County American Red Cross under the leadership of Mrs. F. L. Conkiin hag not only been actively engaged in assisting the ex-service men of this district but they. have also carried on an extensive relief pro- gram throughout the county. During the months of February and March, 43 disabled men were given help either in filing their claims for compensa- tion or for vocational training, or in securing medical treatment or hospital care. Thirteen of these men were giv- en financial assistance amounting to $157, part of which has already been refunded. Part of this assistance is given men traveling through Bismarck where same is authorized by home chapter and refunded by them. ‘Last fall the Red Cross took as its slogan “No Child out of School Be- cause of Lack of Clothing.” Working through .the teachers, the Branch Chairmen, and the Junior Red Cross, with Mrs. Dill Register as its chatr- man, clothing to the amount of $397.51 was sent out to supplement the second hand garments which were so kindly donated by individuals and organiza- tions. Sixteen tons ofalignite were furnished families where small chil- dren would otherwise suffer from the cold. Glasses were provided for ten children, while the hospital bills for seven tonsilectomines and one major Operation were paid, the physicians donating their time arfd services. The total relief for tle past three months amounts to $900.25 with refunds to the amount of $257.13. Truly the Red Cross, the Greatest Mother in the World, is active’ in Burleigh county. MRS. MARTIN ENTERTAINS CLUB The Fortnightly club met with Mrs. J. Maurice Martin at her home on Avenue B yesterday afternoon. A splendid program on the Book of Job was given. Miss Minnie J. Nielson led the program and was assisted by Mrs. F. L. Conklin and Mrs. William Langer. Mrs. P. R. Fields gave an interesting talk on “Modern Poetry.” On Monday afternoon Mrs. Martin entertained the P. E. O. Sisterhood at her home. This was a social meeting and was in the nature of a farewell party for Mrs, E. B. Woodward, who is leaving Bismarck soon. The guest of honor was presented with an ap- propriate gift as a remembrance of the members of the chapter. CURRENT EVENTS CLUB Mrs. A. P. Lenhart entertained the members of the Current Events club at her home on Avenue B yesterday afternoon. A very interesting pro- gram on “Art” was given. M'ss Bertha. Palmer read ‘a paper on “American Portrait Painters,” Mrs. Larson read a paper on “American Painters of Home Life” and Mrs. Register read a paper on “Women Sculptors of America.” Delicious re- freshments were served at the close of the meeting. GIVES LUNCHEON BRIDGE, Mrs, EB. J. Schultz entertained at a luncheon bridge at her home yester- day afternoon. Three tables of bridge were in play, Mrs, Carl Nelson win- ning the prize for having the highest score. At 6 o'clock a delicious four- vourse luncheon was served at a ta- ‘ble attractively decorated with the Easter colors. Out of town guests were Mrs. Lundeen of Fergus Falls, Minn., who ig a guest at the home of Mrs, George Ebert, and Mrs. E. B. Wilkinson, EASTERN STAR PARTY. All Masons and their wives, who are planning on attending the dinner at the Masonic temple tomorrow evening, at 7 o'clock are asked to notify Mrs. E. J. Schultz by 10 oclock to- morrow morning. Dinner will be serv- ed at 7 o'clock and cards will be the diversion of the evening. A card party for the ladies will be given at 2 o'clock in the’ afternoon. TO ATTEND MEETING, ‘Miss Minnie Nielson, state superin- tendent of public instruction, left this morning for Valley City, where she will attend a meeting of the South. eastern Teachers association being held there today and tomorrow. Miss Nielson will address the, meeting this evening, on‘“The Need of the Hour.” LEAVES FOR VISIT Mrs. C. F. Dirlam of Person Court leaves today for Crookston, Minn., where she will visit at the home of her parents. Following a visit in Minne- |sota, she will go to Milwaukee to meet, her husband.
