TAYLOR CLASS MATE OF CALDWELL Brilliant Brooklyn Attorney’ Who Took Own Life on Eve of Promotion in New York E. J, Taylor, well known educator and deputy superintendent in the of- fice of Miss ‘Nielson, was a class mate of Everett Caldwell, noted and brilliant Brooklyn attorney, who committed suicide on the eve of his promotion to district attorney at Brooklyn, New York. Mr. Taylor says that the noted at- tornzy was a remarkable student of law and had a fascinating personality together making him an outstanding tigure in his profession. Both attend- ed school at their home town, Canton, New York, and later at St. Lawrence University. The news of his death reached Canton, his home town Christ- |mas morning and is reported to have saddened the entire city. He was eminently popular and his tragic death was deeply mourned in Wanton. He was a son of the late Sheriff Caldwell of Canton. He had officiated as assist- ant district attorney .and for many years was connected with the office. Mr. Taylor said that Mr. Caldwell was of a highly nervous temperament. He had just been appointed district attorney, a very responsible office which Mr. Caldwell is said to have not been particularly anxious to assume. He had’ recently suffered a nervous breakdown and it. is believed that is what caused him to take his life, IN COACH FIRE AT DRISCOLL.
