Jn J X i iy a SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12 Named Chairman For Seal Sale Mrs. E. J. Schultz ‘has ‘accepted the city chairmanship of the Annual Christmas ‘Seal Sale again this year. The funds raised’trom the sale of seals the past two years was used to main- tain a city school nurge during ‘part of last year and it is hoped the sale this yéar, will be sufficient to place a nprse in the schools the first of the year ,for the remaining term. Fifty per cent of the seal sale proceeds for the entire state g0 back to the city or community where. seals cre sold, this money to be used in some ‘form of ‘health work which will benefit the community. Last year a number of nutrition classes were held in various parts of the state, over fifty sets of scales were ordered for schools and the Modern Health Crusade -was carried on_ by over, 50,000 school children. Edna Ferber is best known for her “Emma McChesney & Co.” stories. The leading characters in the picture are played by Mabel Julienne Scott, remembered for her work asthe In- dian girl, “Lally” in that, splendid pic- ture, “Behold My Wife’ and Stuart Holmes, who was seen at the Eltinge last week in “The Four ‘Horsemen.’ A-shert story of the picture follows: * Fanny is a typical American girl,’ although an odd mixture of book-worm and tom-boy. Her parents own a small dr goods and notions store in a little middle-western town. The father dies, leaving the mother to run the business, She and Fanny scrimp an@ save! so that the son, Theodore, cafi''stady'the violin in Europe. This boy breaks his mother’s heart by marrying a music hall dancer in Vienna. When the mother dies, Fanny, through ‘anger and realization of her futile -years of sacrifice, breaks away from her home and hecomes a highly efficient business woman—the head of a department in a Chicago mail-order house. «| afternoon." {seventy candles on it. ‘She was pre-' ets city, \ i 2 R. Mrs. Nellie Evarts Minneapolis on a business trip. i Her soul is constantly torn between, two forces,. the materialistic and the ¢ spiritual. | Fenger, the genius-like ex- ecutive of the mail-order house, spurs her fo material success. Heyl, her boyhood playmate, and ‘now a bril- liant newspaper man, tries to per- suade her to let her spiritual side— the ‘old Fanny, herself—come tothe surface again. Fanny becomes herself again when her brother Theodore returns from Europe with his baby daughter. His wife had run away. Fanny takes him in, puts him on his feet, and, with Fenger’s help, arranves for his Amer- ican debut. It is a great success. j then he disappears—to go back to his wife again. This is the last straw for Fanny. Her better nature is again submerged in business fatalism. She forgives Fenger for certain unwelcome atten- tions toward her and is on the point of running away with him, despite his invalid wife, when Heyl finally ‘is victorious in his fight to make her give in to her better impulses. Fanny, again her lovable, unmate- rialistic, sympathetic self, finally nes- tles into Heyl’s arms, at last secure in the knowledge of her future love and happiness. with our Wholesale order. ~ Announcement On November 15th, 1921, we will open:a Retail Coal Yard in Bismarck in connection wholesale agents for mines at Zap, Wilton, Washburn and Garrison, and therefore, will have on hand at all times coal from these points. Fes The cause of a cold is an accumulation of poisonous ‘materials within the -body -for -a certain ‘period of time preceding the cold. If the excretory organs of the body are comparatively normal, these poisons will not be ac- cumulated and colds will rarely manifest themselves. In brief, colds are more an ‘indication of: the general bodily condition than they are a disease in themselves. Chiropractic offers-a logical reason why the excretory organs are abhormal, and follows that with a means of relief. The practitioner must determine which excretory organ is abnormal and correct the cause. He locates in the spine, that ‘vertebra which is producing pressure on the nerve trunks supplying the nose, throat, or bronchial tubes. Thus the real cause 'of the local inflammation is corrected and the individual recovers normal health in the natural way.
