W. CLUB. GOIN FOR AID The get together dinner for the Business and Professional Women’s club, held in the dining room of’ the Grand Pacific last evening, far ex- ceeded the expectations of ‘its pro: moters in every way. At an “L” shaped table covers were laid for 6/ and it was found that 65 were pres- ent. Two out-of-town guests were; Mrs. Tyrrell, wife of Dr. Tyrrell of Underwood, and M.z3 Bradt, Chris! tian Endeavor:-Secretary for Minne- sota. The table was attractite in a/ decoration of scarlet geyaniums. The Place cards each had a pansy in the the corner of the card and, in addi- tion to her name, each guest found a card, such as “Why didn't Noah Ike | the letter D?’—a source of discus- sion among guests, Miss Elsie Bauer led the singing during the evening, beginning. the festivities with “Am- rica” and “Out Where the West Be- gins.” A five-course dinner’ was served. During courses Mrs. Herman Scheffer sang’ a group of songs, “Two Roses”, “The Dancer”, and “Slumber Song.” The presideut of the club, Miss Beach, presented ‘several matters’ for the consideration of the body, such as the proposal that the club put a small fountain in Custer park, The president will probably appoint a committee to look up estimates and confer with the city commission be- fore'contjnuing: this project of the tree in the. park, in‘accord with the Proposed plan. The matter ofa club flower,” aiso that of club. colors,; brought forth much animated discus- sion ahd the matters are now in the hands of committees for report. Mrs. Florente ‘Davis, vice-president of the club, made a plea for the Mme, Curie Radium fund, urging that the Busi- ness and Professional women of Bis-; marck take a.small: part in helping the.women of:‘the United States to provide the proposed sum of $100,000 for the purchase of the gram of ra- dium for which Mme. Curie expressed a wish when asked by an American newspaper woman what her wish would be if just one might be granted. In view of the fact that Mme, Curie, the most noted woman scientist in the world, is today landing on American shores to pay a visit to our country, it was thought’ a timely matter for consideration. The club voted their’ offering toward the radium. fund. sota to pay a visit to the Mayo hos- pital. at Rochester, the great scien- tist' will continue her journey to the ‘Pacific coast ,through North Dakota,| and will pass through éither Grand Forks ‘or tarough Bismarck. In the latter event, the Bismarck people will nave: a special interest an the visit to the middle west of the brave little Polish woman ‘who, with her French! husband, has made the marvelous discovery of radium.
