It is that for the last ten ‘years a specially made chair, carved with the Canadian coat of arms, has been waiting in Wash- ington for use of this envoy. Elihu Root, then Secretary of State, ordered the chair, one of many special- ly designed for the Pan-American Union Building at the Capitol, Andrew Carnegie’s memorial to cement more firmly the relations of the Americas. The story is told by Albert Kelsey, of this city, one of the architects of the Pan-American building, who ‘said: “Once a month the ambassadors and ministers of all the American repub- lics meet and are presided over by our Secretary of State in the Pan-Amer- ican building and each representative has a chair of his own, with the arms ved on the back. “Now when these chairs’ were de- cided on, Secretary Root asked me to have an additional one made with the Canadian arms on it, Which was done, and which has been hidden for the past ten years, for Secretary Root cautioned me—to use his exact words to be a ‘little reticent about the matter’.” French Auto oil, about 100 callons; 75c per gallon while it; lasts to close out. They wait their chance as the miles slip by, and they are not ‘always, cheated. There have been some pileups on the Indianapolis speedway. Seldom has there been a year that some entry did not drive the death car. The distance around the rim of the track is two and one-half miles. There are some bad curves to hold a high- power racing machine on, and the class of men, who deal in speed, take shetr chances with fate in order to win. This year's International 500-Mile ‘Sweepstakes classic is booked for May 31. Mechanically, the event represents the last-minute production in speel ind power and endurance. It is the dream ‘of the engineers to get’ the ‘highest speed and the most power out of the smallest engine. ‘This year marks another step in their engineering skill, for it is the first LIFT CORNS OFF I DOESN'T HURT With fingers!
