Wheat in places is from four to five inches high, and has a good stand and’ color. Some wheat seeding remains to bi finished in Montana and the northern tier of counties’ in North Dakota ‘Owing, to the lateness of the season, and the scarcity of help in. western North Dakota ,and eastern Montana, the wheat acreage there will probably show a greater decrease than at first estimated. At the present time in- dications point to a reduction in the wheat acrage of about 25 per cent un- der last season for the four north- western states. A large. percentage of this land, however, will go into other. grains. Ground Moist Coarse grain seeding is all finished in the southern partof the territory, and is now in progress in the north- ern part. The condition of the ground is very favorable as there is plenty of moisture. In+South Dakota, east and west. of Pierre, there were several disastrous cloud’ bursts last week. Some of the railroad tracks were, washed away, and many. streams in that locality over-flowed their banks, causing con- siderable damage in several towns and on, numerous farms.
