The long series of campaigns, poli tfeal gatherings and preliminary elec- tions will culminate in the general election November 2 when in nearly all states offices ranging from ed States senatorships to will be filled, The dir ct issues range in character from contests between friends and opponents of the Nonpar- tisan league, prohibition, and organ ized labor to the high cost of living and taxation Of the presidential primaries, the | first comes in Montana April 23, fol- lowed by the California primary May 4 and the Oregon primary May 21 ARIZONA est for the office of United enator from Arizona will Se a feature of the Beneral election in Arizona on November 2. It will in- volve the seat.of Senator Marcus A. Smith, whose term is expiring. At the same time, the offices of governor and nearly all other state officers will be filled. There are a few exceptions. One member of the supreme court 1s to be chosen together with one mem ber of the corporation commission and two of the tax, commission. Other members of the supreme court and of the two commissions remain in office, their term not being due to expire. ‘Few aspirants for nomination for any office have yet announced themselves. Both democrats and republicans selected delegates to their nationat conventions in february. Both sets of delegates are uninstrugted, although the republican convention at Tuscon adopted resolutions favoring Leonard Wood's candidacy.
