Martin of the Bismarck pudlic schools today announced the teacher appointments for the 1919- 1920 term. Comparatively few changes have been made, Among the newcomers will be Spencer Boise, ‘son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. Boise of Bismarck, as instructor in physics and director in athletics and music. ‘Mr. Boise formerly was a member of the Mandan high school staff. His last two years have been spent in France, where he served as assist- ant director of the famous Second North Dakota band. His military ex- perience in music and athletics has added greatly to his value as an in- structor in his chosen fields. All country club members and their fam- ilies and out-of-town guests are in- vited to attend. Returns From Vacation. Miss Lavina A. Peterson of the Quain, & Ramstad force, returned to her guties on Tuesday morning, hav- ing spent a few days at the Minne sota lakes. In ‘Minneapolis. - Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Register, 622 Fifth street, departed Monday even- ing for Minneapolis for a visit of sev- eral days. They plan to return to Bismarck on Sunday or Monday. * Meets With Accident. “| Ralph Beyer, 13-year-old son‘ of J. W. Beyer of Driscoll, was brought to Eismarck on Tuesday suffering from a fractured arm.which he sustained by falling off a hay rack. The boy was taken to the Bismarck hospital for treatment. Mr. and “Mrs. James Elliott and family of New England passed through the city on Tuesday and stop- ped over in Bismarck to call on friends while on their way to Gran- din to visit with relatives, ‘Ihey reported crops as being poor in their locality, this being their third crop failure. Here Wednesday, Postmaster and Mrs. W. B. Anrdus of Hazelton, were in the city yester- day en route to Jamestown where the state postmasters’ convention has ‘been called for today and tomorrow. On Vacations. Several of the nurses of Bismarck hospital left this week for various points on their vacations. Miss Clara j Handy left Tuesday for Underwood ‘to spend her vacation period with her mother. Miss Mabel Winge departed yesterday for Ryder on a couple of weeks vacation, and Miss Mabel oBehming left yesterday for a three weeks’ visit at Kipon, Wis. Visiting Miss Heinmiller. (Miss Mae Heinmiller, superinten’- ent of nurses at the Bismarck hos- pital, has as her guest her sister-in- law, Mrs. ‘Arthur Heinmiller, and daughter Majorie of Seattle, Wash., who arrived in the capital city this morning on No, 4. They are en route to Ottawa, Ill, to visit with, Mrs. Heinmiller’'s parents, and will con- clude their visit in Bismarck tomor- row. CAPITOL PICNIC. On Friday evening the capitol offi- cials and employees will poin in a picnic party at Apple creek. Mem- bers of the party will go out in auto. mobiles and a picnic supper will be among the attractions of the early evening, after which the members of the party will proceed to Fort Lin- coln, where they will spend the re- mainder of the evening in dancing, the dance to be held in the gymna- sium. Brownsville, ‘Tex., July 17.—Miss Charlotte McGovern of Bronsville, Texas, deputy sheriff of Cameron county for several years, was acting sheriff for several weeks recently while the Henry Ford case held her superior officers in the north. Her duties included directing the peace officers and preserving order “down onthe border” as well as the less re- sponsible but no less dignified tbusi- ness of opening court.
