But, Bill's letter speaks for itself. Here we have it: Tribune, Bismarck, Tuesday, March , 1899, the under- signed and Albert R. Rankin left Bis- marck for the Black Hills, mounted on two cayuses. We went west to Dickinson and _ then struck across country to Minesela, now Belle Fourche, and then proceeded to Stur- gis, where we left our ponies and walked up to Deadwood. At that time M. H.
