I don’t want to live!’ The conviction which was for the killing of Mary Newman Roberts last June, carrics a sentence of from fourteen to twenty-five years imprisonment. Owing to the prisor- er’s condition, however, Judge Lueck intimated that he would not pronounce sentence until Miss Lusk is more com- posed. I love him! Bring him here! | want him! O God how 1 love him! Let me kiss him!” Then a low moan, “Cant you people understand I love him, how my heart cries for him?” Two nurses in the cell watched the tossing figure on the cot closely. The sounds came plainly through the jail corridor out to where a ‘bailiff sat. “What d'ye know about that,” re- marked the bailiff. “Wants him, been yelling for him all night. Why, he threw her down hard at the trial. Iast night she wouldn't see her old father —laughed at him, She told him ‘You wouldn't let me die before; now look at me, and with that she began moaning for doc again.” which she might do herself injury has heen removed from her cell and ‘be- yond her reach. ‘Attacks Attorney. Tullar’s son is: ‘District Attorney, Maurice Tullar, who was compelled by ilness to with- draw from the case and appointed his father to take his place. The young- er Tullar, however, testified a5‘a wit- ness that Miss Lusk, four days after the tragedy, told him that she,realiz- ed what she had done, but could not understand how she did so calmly and deliberately. “This man’s son lied my life away,” she cried. Bailiffs.wrenched het away from the startled lawyer and sho was taken, struggling and moaning, back to her! cell. : GIRLS IN STAMP MILL Operating a Paying Mine Near Ju- neau, Alaska.
