OFFICIAL COUNTY AND CITY PROCEEDINGS WE ALSO SELL TIRES Two Standard Makes Fisk and Miller We Do V;‘Eanizing and All FREE PUBLICITY We are heartily in sympathy with expressions of opinion recently made by the National Editorial association in its “Bul- letin.” In essence it says, that every publisher in the country could make a fine “buric” book out of the free publicity which reaches his office every month. Highly paid menr are engaged in writing this “bunc’’ and not the least offendet in this regard is the government itself. Articles sent out by the Reclamation Department are nothing more or less than high class advertis-| ing that real estate firms might put out and expect to pay for at the regular advertising rates. Certain lands are placed be-; fore the public as fine places for investment and settlement to" the detriment of others. | M L We have been reading some of the articles sent out by a' AT AND so-called publicity association through its president and what Tire and Repair Co. that president says, seems, in many cases, to parallel pretty closely, certain other free publicity coming to our desk which' makes very strong arguments favorable to higher freight and passenger rates on railroads. If these agencies can persuade the publisher that the space in his papen is for the free use of any institution that wishes to, use it, and that it is not worth anything, they will be able to get lot of free publicity. It is up to the publisher td demand pay for his stock in trade as it is up to a merchant to demand pay for the goods he has on his shelves. A lot of the so-called pub- licity could well be spared.
