Leading farm journals and the ‘large city papers are placing before the, people’ of Minnesota the details of the land clearing program| upon which the county is centering its efforts this coming sum-' mer. If there be any question as to the importance placed upon; this land clearing campaign by the other portions of the state, such articles as that which appeared in “The Farmer,” one of | the leading Northwest agricultural journals in its March 5 issue should clear any doubts on the question. The article, “Com- . munity Land Clearing for Northern Minnesota,” points out fully the plan to be followed, the results that are sure to follow | both as to increased crops and increased values in land. Beltrami county immediately saw the great importance of the campaign to the farmers and business interests of the county, but it was scarcely expected that the remainder of the state would rally to its suport so enthusiastically as it has in \s0 short a time | } Gt s, © NON-ADVERTISERS ARE THE FAILURES ; Eighty-four per cent of the business failures of the past year| occurred among firms which did not advertise, says an authority.} This is the assertion made by Bradstreet’s Commercial Agen-, cy which is as unbiased an authority as can be found in the: business world today. Bradstreet’s compiled its information from statistics, guess work. The importance of advertising as a business element must" have been regarded as vital by this great commercial agency, else it would not have wasted the time of hundreds of trained | men throughout the nation collecting and tabulating this infor- mation. Bradstreet’s thus points the' way to one of the elements) of business success. i The lesson to be learned from the statistics regarding the advertising merchant is obvious. | —a ,That man Will Wilke of Gray Eagle, who runs a bank for business and a newspaper for fun, Springs, S.
