R. Burgess, city dairy inspec- tor, was present and talked interest- ingly on the technical features of the milk ordinance. He said that at pres- ent the ordinance could not be en- forced because of a lack of the prop- jer equipment for tests, etc. It was suggested that barns be put in as san- jtary condition as possible and Dr. Burgess made some brief suggestions along fl‘is line . He also stated that tuberculin tests were not possible at present because of a shortage of the necessary materials, but the subject was well gone into and the attorney general’s ruling as to the disposal. of cattle reacting to the test was ex- plained. e Mr. Dvoracek discussed the factors making up the cost of production, quality of stock, feeds, labor and marketing. At his recommendation the farmers present agreed to bring to the next meeting a complete state- ment of the cost of producing milk on'their respective farms. These cost tables will be discussed at the next meeting. ! ‘A co-operative delivery system was discussed in an interesting way also. This wiJ} be a very important feature _in-the reduction of the cost of produc- tion and will be given very close at- tention. City merchants have for sev- eral years been using the co-operative delivery system, a method greatly re- ducing operating expenses. : During the meeting a temporary or- i ganization was carried out which will prepare the -way for a permanent or- ganization of milk producers. J. L. Meilecke was elected president and L. P. Evans secretary and treasurer of the temporary organization. ! Alfred Moen and Herman Fenske were appointed as a committee to draft a schedule of milk prices to be presented at the next meeting. It is probable -that Dr. Archibald of the state board of health will be present at the next meeting and discuss im- { portant questions for the benefit of | the producers..
