REBECCA LODGE WILL INITIATE CLASS AT TENSTRIKE THURSDAY Pioneer Will Spend Winter in Michigan; Notes of Interest (Special to Pioneer. ) Tenstrike, Nov. 19. —Miss Leona Waock, who is teaching here, spent Bunday visiting her parents in Be- midji. The Rebecca lodge of Tenstrike will have initiation Thursday night, Novemher 20. They will take into the lodge, Mrs. Ichendorf, Ike Mon- thriand and Leslie Rearick. Follow- the initiation ceremonies a boun- ml supper will be served the lodge members. Mr. and Mrs. Nichols and daughter Vivian, closed their show engagement Snnday night at the Guild hall. They played to a full house every night and Tenstrike people seemed well pleased with their clever efforts. From here they go to Leonard where théy will show a week. Cone Cyr leaves this week for Can- ada. Mr. Cyr sold his farm north of town to E. Havett for $3, 200. There are forty acres, about twenty acres being cleared. Peter Maule, one of the pioneer ttlers of this country, left Thurs- xy morning for Port Huron, Mich,, where he will spend this winter. Mr. Maaule expects to be back on his farm again in the spring. George Schulke returned Friday from Minneapolis, where he has spent two weeks. Mr. Davis got news Monday that his mother was dead. He left Mon- day for Mankato to attend the fun- eral. The band boys celebrated Satur- day night into the wee hours, on the receipt of the news that they had won the Chevrolet car given away by the Sentinel in its contest. Hunting season opened Saturday. 'l.'here are a number of strangers in town who have come to hunt. . W. A. Rice left Monday night for Minneapolis with & car of potatoes. Mrs. Ray Collison of Hines is vis- iting, her mother, Mrs. Collett for a few days. . Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rackliff of 8t. Paul are Here visiting at the Wil- liam Trairs home. . The principal and all the teachers will attend the institute at Bemidji on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. The school board is having a new room prepared for the extra teachers, coming on December 3. Her name is Lillian Matson. She is an ad- wvanced graduate of the state normal school at Moorhead. The seniors are assisting Miss F\ sune in the first and second grades. She now has 50 pupils and is up to her eyes in hard work. Rosie Star is a new pupil in the first grade. Monthly examinations were given to the upper grades this week. Christmas music is being practiced in preparation for a coming program. AR grades are rehearsing. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anderson and children of Bemidji. spent the week- end at the Noel farm. D. A. Whiting left Thursday for Kelliher to spend a few days hunt- fng. He was accompanied by J. W. Buss of Park Rapids. Roy conat has purchased a new driving horse. The Farmers’ club wil give an en- tertainment and basket social Thanksgiving night.
