Mr, and Mrs. Albert Magneson ar- rived Wednesday and are visiting with Mrs Magneson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hanem. Among the Shevlin people who went to Bagley Wednesday to see the Birth of a Race were: Mr_and Mrs. Felch, Miss Fultz, Myrtle Gordon, Katie Gordon, Oscar Johnson and Dorothy and Ethel Noyes. Little Mavis Marsh spent the past ‘week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. K. Rank. H. Bramighine, accompanied by his little granddaughtér, Helén Breamighine visited in Bemidji Wed- mesday. Miss Myrtle Gordon entertained at her home Monday evening. Among the guests’ were Carl Rank, Leonard Peterson, Lloyd oGrdon, Dolly Skarolid, ‘and. Ruby Peterson. The evening was spent in playing games, after which refreshments were served. Lloyd Gordon of Ada, Minn., viist- ed the past week with relatives here. While in Duluth" they will visit at the L. G. Hairchild home. Mr. Dexter of Bagley was here on business Saturday. i Miss Fultz returned- to Shevlin Sunday, after spending the week-end] with her parents at Bagley. Mr. McGlennon -of Bagley. visited in Shevlin Sunday between trains. While here, Mr. McGlennon hiked to his farm_near here. i Basket ball seems to be the ambi- tion for the boys here. The M. H. A. hall is being fixed up -for the boys, 80 they can play. Practice has al- ready started. Among those practic- ing are Carl Rank, Conrad raulson, Harry Prieoe, Walter Priebe, Chester Burfleld, Alf Rain, and Marian Har- vey. A team will be selected after some parcticing, and the boys will play with outside teams. Over $30 has been collected for the benefit of] the basket ball boys. If you can give anything, boost for the boys and you will be helping a great deal. Mr. and Mrs. Arne Olson of Shev- lin entertained Wednesday, Novem- ber 5, at an informal luncheon in honor of their son, Anton, who is home on a furlough. Seventy=five guests were present, who presented Anton with a purse of $89.75. The guests were from Shevli and sur- rounding territory. The out of town Buests were Mr. and Mrs. H. Larson of Lake Park, Minn. -Mrs. Larson is Anton’s sister. Anton. was wound- ed while fighting in France in Oc- tober 1918. After having recuperat- ed sufficiently to travel, he was sent to Fort Snelling, Minn., for medical attention. Later he was transferred to Camp Sheridan, Ill., where he is stationed at present. Miss Burneece and Verna Burfield went to Solway Sunday. Miss Bur- neece returned to her duties while hMiss Verna spent the afternoon with er. Herbert -Schreck entertained --a number of friends at his home.on Saturdgy evening. The evening was spent in playing games, after which his mother served lunch. Every one reports a fine time. i Gordon Noyes and Leo Pawek re- turned to Bagley Sunday afternoon, after spending the week end with their parents here. Word has been received that Clar- ence Norby, who was hurt quite gerlously while sliding down a hill, is recovering. Clarence is in the Be- midji hospital, but will soon return home. But the explanation is simple enough. First, get a picture of what happened. Miss Ellerman sang Cowles’ “Forgotten.” She stopped after the first few lines, but her voice flowed on without a break. No one even noticed she had stopped —until some eyes, keener than the rest, saw her lips were still. It was only then that realization dawned.
