In Big 200,000 Extra Votel) - Offer for EverylClub of $25 N “To Make Certain of Fnishing Among the First Candidates Must Must Take Advantage of This Offer—Office Open "Till 9 P. M.—Country Candidates May Mail Letters Any Time Satur-’ day, October 11 With two short days in which to gain the benefits of the great 200,000 -.xtra vote offer interest now centers in gaining every possible bit of ., ground before the final hour comes. Candidates are unanimous in the . opinion through this great offer the greatest amount of success can be at- tained, and, as the remaining time can be counted in hours, efforts are being redoubled to make it the de- ciding factor in ultimate victory. Spirit that moves mountains is be- ing exhibited. Candidates are out day and night, incessantly battling for the votes that will win them gsome of the most magnificent prizes that have ever been offered in this vicinity. With the 200,000 extra vote offer as an incentive these can- didates are enabled to gather votes by the thousands—indeed, by the hundreds of thousands. And to have plenty of these is to become the pos- sessor of one of the three big touring cars to be given away Saturday, No- vemberl. Friday and Saturday, and this general offer will be a thing of the past. Then it will be a short spurt to the end, and may the best ones win! Candidates residing in the outside districts, who cannot call at the campaign manager's office in order to turn in their subscriptions—may mail their orders and remittances any time Saturday, October 11—and this gives them the same length of time as the city candidates have— to secure subscriptions for building clubs to include in the great offer. By mailing subscriptions and re- - mittance before middight, they will - -recelve all the regular extra votes to -which they are entitled and all col- lections will be counted in the extra vote offer. R SECOND PAYMENTS A fruitful source of votes is that of “second payments.” Candidates who have, in the beginning of the campaign, secured from friends or acquaintances a subscription to ‘The Pioneer for short term, should again visit these subscribers and endeavor to secure their comsent District No. 1. This district includes all of the city of Bemidjl. Each candidate in this district has the same opportunity to win the $1,185 Oakland touring car, or one of the Ford touring cars. After the three automobiles have been award- ed, each district will receive five prizes and non-prize winners will be paid fifteen per cent cash commis- sion. 84,800 74,500 Miss Muriel Crawford.......... Potter, Malcolm OF GREAT BENEFIT TO ALL Important Service Rendered to Com- munity by the Planting of Road- side Fruit Trees. Newspapers of the country render important service to a great catise when they call editorial attention to the misuse of the average roadside and alead for practical and esthetic handlng of the opportunity. Each township in Amerlca has in this land an opportunity for the establishment of an arboretum of rare and beautiful trees and shrubs for the benefit of every passer by. Artistic treatment of even the most unsightly }‘oudsld;‘jfwt to speak of portions capable of ‘pic- turesque handling, would work a trans- formation in any township' and set an example for all the farms and home- steads In the region. The trimming away of unsightly decay, the covering of bare spots, the cleaning up of wos- quito-haunted pools would be but the beginning of the good work. The set- ting out of ornamental trees and shrubs might easily bring directly to the roadside superb specimens .of all our native. growths, many fine exotics, all carefully marked (where doubtful) with both popular and sclentific names, as in the finest arboretum in the land. His Mistake. Flatbush—You know my wife and her sister look very much alike. Bensonhurst—Oh, is that so? “Yes. Why, the other day I got a gseat in a crowded trolley caf. and when I got off my sister-in-law was also getting off the same car and she gave me Hail Columbia for not get- ting up and offering her my seat.” “Well, why didn’t you offer her your seat? Didn't you know her?” “No, I didn’t. 1 really thought It was my wife !”—Yonkers Statesman. Childhood’s Energy. Laziness-is an adult vice. Lhildren are almost ‘never lazy.
