Morning trains today commenced to brmg in the delegates and visitors.to the Northern Minnesota Editorial association convention to be held in Bémidji today, tomorrow and Sunday, and incoming trains during the day and tomorrow will unload many more of the fraternity. Many will bying their wives and families to participate in the outing’s pleasures. Besides the members of the association, there will be many men of prominence in the ntate who will be here, specially invited for ‘the occasion. ! The coming of the state" edltors brings to Bemidji a. ‘class of men of exceptional calibre. ' They are the ones who valiently fought Minnesota’s battles throughout the period of:the war, upheld. ;he loyalty of the state in no uncertain manner, until the last V@stiage of disloyaly‘dnd sedition was crushed. ey have lent their earnest efforts to the upbuilding of the state, and all the great improvements soon to be ‘in"vogue in'the state have received the staunchest support from the men who are to be guests of Bemidji three days this week. = Their influ- ence has been deep and far reaching and has had much to do with. shaping the destinies of the state, and they come to Be- midji as a big relief to escape the daily grind, relax strained brains and set countenances. ‘We. are glad to welcome them—évery one. Bemidji. is glad to extend the right hand of hearty greeting. We are proud of them and glad to be one of them in the greatest power unit in the world—the Fourth Estate. —_—— THE SUBLIMITY OF THE /ABSTRACT, That President Wilson’s program was a little too good ‘to be true is new generally recogmzed And there is a tendency 'in certain quarters to questlon . the wiSdom of Iormulating the program. But to do so is.to i question the w1sdom of ever formulating any program. "+ ;The programs that are completely fulfilled as a rule exist | edly any plan ever materializes in every detail. justification' ‘for saying that plans should 1t is tantamount to saymg that 11: is never L nt had tried to do less, he would not have' D, uch. *His:ideals seem fantastic, but'such ideals are ‘1 needed to balunc . materialism of Europe. l " Heaven knows there are places in Europe where they need i idealists and 1deals. It is more than likely that the president | never expected every feature of his program to become a fact. .+ But it is'surprising that so. much of it has-become so by xm- - plication, i f no{; by specific prescription. — Qs FEEDING FAMILY BY SYSTEM PAYS. ‘The high ’dost of foods may: be cut and the family better|" fed by | the useof a little systematic Lplannmg in the home, ac- cording-;to special bulletin No. 39, “Computing Food for the ‘Average American Family,” by Lucy Cordiner, of the agncul- tural extension division, University Farm. The bulletin is in- tended to serve as a guide in such planning. It gives simple and easily understood tables, showing the amotunt of food re- quired by persons of different ages and sexes and engaged in different kinds of work. From these tables the amounts and kinds of foods needed by different members:of; the family may be computed with ease, the proper proportions- may be assxgned to each and purchases may be made with precision. By fol- * lowing such a system the family: is more efficiently and more cheaply fed. Copies of the bulletin may be had by addre@s{ng Oftice of Publications, University Farm, St. Paul. 0.
