P X ) WHY IS NYMORE POSTOFFICE? At the meeting of the city council Tuesday evening, the Nymore post- oftice again broke into the limelight, Alderman Smith bringing up the placing of an electric light at a railroad crossing so the crew of the‘ mail car, which brings the mail in the early evening, will be able to see the crossing when he throws the mail bag from the car and not have it land in a convenient ditch. A man awaits the coming of the mail train and conveys the sack from| where it is thrown off to the postoffice. If it is too dark and the mail car employe is unable to see him and happens to heave the mail into the ditch, it is the duty of the mail carrier to crawl down into the ditch and hoist out the mail. Truly a remarkable manner of a railroad delivering the mail for a postoffice. However, just why is the Nymore postoffice? When that portion of the city was taken into Bemidji and created into the Fifth ward it was supposed the postoffice of the village of Ny- more would soon be a thing for remembrance. Land, Loans, Insurance and City Property You owe it to your Health (also Pocketbook) to use more BUTTERMILK As a shipper of 50,000 carloads of commodities- per year, Walter S. Dickey, of Kansas City, Missouri, believes that the railroads should be given an immediate and material increase in rates. Dickey is the owner of twenty-one plants for the manufacture of clay products in ten different states and is a large shipper of raw materials and coal, and a correspond- ingly large employer of labor. His experience in the handling of com- modities at congested terminals and his difficulties in getting cars, to- gether with the present depreciated value of railroad stocks, convinces him that the request for freight rate increases is a meritorious one and that for the good of the business of the country favorable action should not be delayed. Either wantonness in shooting what has been brought to the refuge to increase, or carelessness should not be tolerated, unless under extenuating circumstances. Hunters should ascertain where they are ‘“at” before meandering around with a gun and taking a shot at whatever comes with- in range. DR. C. R.
