INVENTORS’ GUIDE Government Ready to Encourage Genius of Country. SEND ALONG YOUR SCHEME. In Submitting Original Service to Na- val Consulting Board Use the Mails. Board Too Busy For Personal Inter- views—Immediate Trial For Any- thing of Value. New York.—A few days ago publicity ‘was given to the statement of a United States navy officer here that he wat “pestered to death by cranks with all morts of crazy inventions thpy wished to hand over to the government.” The officer in question is one of the most able, the most valuable, in the service. There is no doubt either, as be says, that he has suffered great an- moyance. At the same time the state- ment he made could not have been more unfortunate, says Maximilian Foster of the Vigilantes. Instead of discouraging the so called eranks of inventors, the United States government at the moment is making every effort in its power to encourage and develop the country’s ihventive Photo by American fre- mclnnan THOMAS A. Any ungg tlon that will in any way aid to terminate the war will be received with gratitude, In submitting the invention or orig- inal device to the naval consulting board, 13 Park row, the following should be borne in mind: Plans for such devices should be sub- mitted by mail, and only by mail. In no case should they be submitted in person. The board is far too busy to give time for personal interviews. In describing your invention sim. plicity is a great and necessary requi- site. Only one invention should be described in each communication. If the inventor has, say, a ha!f dozen In- ventions, let him set forth each in a separate communleation. In submitting an lnvention the in- ventor ghontd. Le @ lar to state “Hore’s a *‘Crackerjack” A pneumatic Fountain Ink Well. The name of the well is the ECLIPSE. Nothing to get out of order. No valves, no floats. The ink from the res- &rvoir falls into a small cup at the base, which provides just enough ink to cover the pen. NOT THE HOLDER.. The ink :annot splash. Air and dust cannot reach the ink, therefore the ink never becomes gummy or sticky. The last drop is as good as the first. It is made entirely of glass. Needs fill- ing but once in six months and saves 75 per cent of your ink bill. Sells for $1.00 and $1.25. WHAT! Don’t believe it? Come and see. For example, if you were conscious of any strain when using your eyes, attend to them at once. It may be easy to correct that strain now, whereas if not attended to it will probably grow worse and cause serious trouble. Come in and have us make a thorough examination of your eyes. If you do not need glasses we will tell you go. If you do need them you should get them at once and stop injuring your eyes by forcing them to work under strain. DRS.
