Philadelphia, which ten years ago 'was without public playgrounds, is now the second city in the country in the number and equipment of her child recreation centers, the only city su- " perior in this respect being Chicago." ‘This was brought out in a recent re- port of Montgomery Harris, president. of the Playgrounds association. He said the association now had thirty playgrounds in operation in various parts of the city and that nine addi- tional ones would be opened this sum- mer.
