THE BEMIDJI DAILY PIONEER Do’ DE RUSHIA CALLED|NEW SPRING SHOES! > Mayor Vandersluis is nurging a “bum mitt” caused by a scratch on the thumb which developed, or tried desperately to, a case of infection and blood poisoning. The thumb commenced to swell and give him great pain, and the mayor enlisted the services of “Doc” Jack’ De Rushia, a member of the clerical force of the Vandersluis hardware store. The “doc” first got an empty paint bucket-and a putty knife, but what else it was no one seems able to dis- cover, but it wasn’t anything like “mother” ever concocted, and smear- ed it on the pompous digit, hiked for Barker’s drug stere and secured sev- |, eral yards of bandaging and soon had the “mitt” looking like an eight- ounce boxing glove. But the mayor says he is able to be about and as the thumb is better all danger of an operation or blasting is past. The Same in Grunkélon Crookston Residents Bpuk Out for the Welfare of the Public.
