4 GRAND ARMY POST INSTALLS OFFICERS The officers installed by the local G. A. R. Saturday in the Odd Fellows hall were as follows: Commander—J. M. Phillippi. Quartermaster—William Schroe- der. Senior vice Martin. Vice commander—1J. P. Irish. Officer of the day—H. P. Minton. Chaplain—George Smith. Surgeon and door guard—O. R. Eastwood. Adjutant—George Cheney. At the annual election held in De- cember, William Schroeder was elect- ed commander but he resigned, owing to the fact he had to submit to sev- eral surgical operations, and the place was filled by Mr. Phillippi. Mr. Schroeder has accepted the po- sitfon formerly held by Mr. Phillippi as quartermaster. As soon as the Elks’ building is completed the meetings of the G. A. R. will be held in that building, which ‘the Elks have given them the use of for one year, free of charge. B ALMY DAY BRINGS THRONGS INTO OPEN Yesterday was an unusually warm - and balmy day and everybody, near- ly, who could possibly navigate was out of doors enjoying the sunshine. The toboggan was thronged, al- though the sun thawed the snpw and made sliding not of the best. Yet the day was enjoyed to the dullest in Bemidji. ADVANCE OF CARNIVAL DELEGATION TO LEAVE The first of the Bemidji delegation to the St. Paul carnival will get away this evening. It will consist of Mayor Vandersluis, Andrew John- mim, T. C. Bailey and E. E. McDon- ald. The former re- ceived a cut in the head and the lat- ter sustained a stiff neck in the mix. Both boys were able to attend school today. ENLISTMENT CAMPAIGN AT THE BAPTIST CHURCH Everybody is welcome to the ser- vice at the Baptist church tonight at 7:30 o’clock. Mr. Fagenstrom es- pecially invites high school students to all the services. From 7:30 until 8 o’clock there will be a preliminary service for boys and girls over 9 years of age. N Mr. Fagenstrom will also intro- duce physical drills and other novel and interesting features. All eve- ning services will close not later than 8:55. Tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock there will be an adult con- ference on ‘“Community Life” to which both men and women are in- vited. The purpose of this campaign is to enlist young people for the. Christian life and to intensify their loyalty to the church. The methods employed by Mr. Fagenstrom are unique, quite out of the ordinary, and all who come will find entertainment, spirdtion and helpfulness. Mr. Fagenstrom is a live wire and everyone who fails to hear him each evening will miss something worth while.
