Minnesota Passes the 125.000 Mark and is Third in the Ratio of Increases, Beltrami county has 452 automo- biles registered, according to a re- port recently issued. The county leads Cass, Clearwater, Koochiching, Hubbard and several other counties in this vicinity. The registration for each county up to May 1, 1916, is an interesting study. There are 514,210 more cars in use today than there were on Jan. 1, 1916, in the United States. There are more than 3,000,000 automobiles in use, including passenger cars and trucks. There are now three states having more than 200,000 cars apiece, New York, Ohio and Illinois. Minnesota has 126,700 cars, or one for each 19 of population. Taking up a few exact figures, the total registrations July 1, 1916, were The larg- York, was 259,105. Ohio, taking sec- ond place for the first time, had 208,- 105, and Illinois 203,757. New York now holds the place at the head of the list by a margin of 50,000 regis- trations. The bottom of the list is occupied by Nevada but Nevada ranks 14th in the tabulation, showing the number of people per car, New York taking 28th place in this list.
