Mr. Bartie, who has purchased 160 acres from Mr. Benson, has arrived on his place with his son-in-law. They visited W. C. Schilling last Satur- day. Dan Stanton and Theo. Reisner have been building an addition to the George W. Piper store. Mr. Piper will soon go to Crookston to bring his niece back to assist him with his increasing business. Mrs. Clyde Miller and family have returned from Thief River Falls and Goodrich where they have been vis- iting. Lars Woldness went to make proof at Carmel last Saturday, taking with him Chris Larson and Fred Johnsonf as witnesses. Miss Jennie Satterlie arrived on her homestead last Tuesday. Ray Jonnson made a trip to Mal- colm Friday. Mrs. Emma Haug of Fosston, Minn., arrived on her claim Wednes- day. The school closed May 13. Miss Olive Maass, the teacher, deserves a great deal of credit for the work she has done for the school, both in teaching and raising funds for new equipment which was badly needed.
