PRESERVATION OF GAME URGENT SAYS SOCIETY (By United Press) Winnipeg, Man., March 13.—Game | preservation in Manitoba, North Da- kota and Minnesota was argued to- day with some fervor by the Audu- bon society. Declaring itself repre- senting the 96 per cent of the popu- lation that does not shoot prairie chicken, the society asks for laws pro- tecting the birds whose eggs, it says, have largely been destroyed by frost. Plover, woodcocks, snipes and sand pipers protection would save agricul- turists $80,000,000 by weed and in- sect, the society says. WOLVES HAVE NOT KILLED MANY DEER The past winter has been hard on wolves in Minnesota, but contrary ‘to the general belief, deer have not suffered to any great extent from their ravages, according to a report made by the state game commission. Warden S. C. Bailey of Bemidji reports that after careful investiga- tion that he has not been able to substantiate any actual cases of kill- ing deer by wolves. Loggers at Northome corroborate this.
