FURTHER ARRESTS T0 BE MADE IN GIRL MURDER GASE Wisconsin Police Extend Investiga- tions; Poison Found in Room of Orpet. COLLEGE YOUTH TELLS REPORTERS HE’S INNOCENT Drug Clerk of Madison Admits Sell- ing Drug to Him Several Days Before Murder. ‘Waukegan, Ill., Feb. 15.—Further arrests are promised in the myster- ious murder of Marion Lambert. The discovery of a quantity of poison in the basement of the home of Will H. Orpet, collegian accused of the mur- der of his former sweetheart, Marion Frances Lambert, and the announce- ment by Lake county officials that other arrests were possible, were the developments today in the inquiry into the death of Miss Lambert. Same as Caused Death. The poison was found by State's Attorney Daddy and Chief of Police McGuire, and according to the state’s attorney, it was identical with that which is believed to have ended the life of the Forest Lake high school girl. . ‘Word came from Madison that a drug clerk had admitted selling a bottle of medicine to Orpet Tuesday morning before the young man made his secret trip to Lake Forest to meet the girl in thg lonely woods where her body was found. Don’t Want Release. The parents of the girl disclaimed today any desire to have Orpet re- leased from custody and urged that the law be permitted to take its course. Orpet remained in the Waukegan jail and it was said that no attempt to obtain his relase would be made until after the inquest. School friends of Miss Lambert were questioned by the state’s attor- ney as to their knowledge as to the relations which had existed between Orpet and the girl. Denies Guilt. Orpet today told reporters with whom he worked last summer that he is innocent. He asked if the peo- ple thought him guilty. When told yes, he told them to tell the world that he was innocent.
