The following resolution was offered by Commissioner Lennon, who moved its adoption: “Whereas, state road No. 10 has been constructed and_completed, with noth- ing further to do except maintenance, it is important that the following de- scribed road be designated as a state road: Be it therefore resolved, that the following described road shall be des- ignated as state road No. 14, subject to the approval of the state highway commission. Beginning at the southwest corner of section 30, township 150, ange 30 (Town of Hornet), which is an inter- section with state road No. 10, running east along_ the line between sections 30 and 31, 29 and 32, 28 and 3 and 34, and 26 and 2 ed to take with with the Minnesota & International Railway, thence in a northeasterly di- rection, ‘parallel to said M. A petition for the organization of the Town of Birch Island (155-32) offered as follows: ‘ “To the Board of County Commission- ers of the County of Beltrami, Minne- sota: “'he undersigned, a majority of the legal male resident freeholders who are voters of the congressional town- ship number north, of range 32 west, in said county, containing not less than twenty-five such male legal voters, hereby petition your honorable board 'to be organibed as a new town under the township organization law, and_respectfully ask that you forth- with proceed to fix and determine the boundaries of such new town, and to name the same Birch Island. That the boundaries of sald town be, and the same hereby are made co-extensive with the boundaries of said congressional township said town so organized is her Birch Island.” The motion being seconded by Com- missioner Thompson, was put to a vote and duly carried. The following resolution was offered by Commissioner Lennon, who moved its adoption: “Whereas, the new Town of Birch Island has been this day organized; Now therefore, be it resolved, that the first town meeting for said town be held at Anderson postoffice in said town on Tuesday, the 25th day of Janu- ary, 1916, at.10 o'clock am.” The motion being seconded by Com- missioner Thompson, was put to a vote and duly carried. The report of the public examiner on county affairs wis read, and on motion duly seconded and carried, was ap- proved and ordered filed. ) The report of the committee of in- spection of judicial ditch No. 11 was offered and read showing approval of said’ committee. It was moved, second- ed and carried that the report be ap- proved and ordered filed. Commissioner Hayes offered the fol- lowing resolution, and moved its adop- tion: 3 “Whereas, bonds Nos. 170 to 212, both numbers inclusive, were issued on ju- dicial ditch No. 26 for $1,000 each, and amounting to’ $43,000, and Whereas, the lien on -judicial ditch No. 26 shows an actual cost of $42,- 871.01, making. an_over-issue of the bonds’ on said ditch; Now therefore, be it resolved, that saidi bond No. 212 for $1,000, issued on judicial ditech No. 26, be hereby can- celled and made null and void; and Be it further resolved, that as bond No. 212 has been delivered and paid for by the purchaser, John Nuveen & Co. of Chicago, that the county auditor be instructed and authorized to recall bond No. 212 and cancell same, and to deliver to the said John Nuveen & Co. bond No. 199 of judicial ditch No. 26 in place of same, and to endorse upon the back of the certificate of deposit No. 4677, now in the hands of the county treasurer, and secured by the deposit of the undelivered bonds of this issue, the fact of the cancellation of said bond No. 212, for the amount of $1,000.” The motion being seconded by Com- missioner Clementson, was put to a vote and duly carried, and so declared by the chairman.
