Mr. Lawler is an able man, but he is out of touch with a large share of the state’s democracy. and his past record is not in accord with public sentiment today as it manifests itself in the choice of pub- lic servants.—Virginia Enterprise. —— The Twin City political reporters are having the time of their lives parading has-beens, lame ducks and other old-time political hacks as can- didates for governor and United States senator in 1916, but the pub- lic generally are taking no particular interest in the matter at the present! time. What a happy solution of this proposition it would be should the outside the political organizations and select candidates for these im- portant positions regardless of a pull with the organizations. There are thousands of capable middle-aged men in Mirnesota who would make good officials in either of these po- sitions, and we imagine they would stand a better show of succeeding than any of these old-timers.
