Summarized results show: | Charles S. Whitman, Republican, defeated Martin H. Glynn for governor by a plurality of 131,435. James W. Wadsworth, Republican, defeated James W. Gerard for senator by 81,390. Republicans carried both branches of the legislature over- whelmingly, the senate standing: Re- publicans, 34; Democrats, 17; assem- bly, Republicans, 99; Democrats, 51. Republicans elected the entire tick- et for minor; state offices and an over- whelming majority of the delegates to the constitutional convention which will write the atate’s mew constitu tion; Republicans reduce the Demo- cratic congressional representation in the state from thirty-one to nineteen. William Sulzer, impeached and re- moved as governor by Tammany ‘Hall, ran ahead of Frederick M. Davenport, .the Progressive candidate for gov- ernor. Sulzer, running as the Pro- hibjtion capdidate with the American party endorsement, polled 65,000 votes against 45, 000 for Davenport ALLIES ! Turkey had withdrawn all her dip- lomatic representatiyes from England and France. Russian troops have in- vaded Turkey, while the Anglo-French fleet is bombarding the Dardanelles. CLOSING IN ON TSINGTAU Jap Bombardment of German Position Continues. Tokio, Nov. 6.—It is officially an- nounced that the bombardment of Tsingtau continues vigorously. The g «Germans on the night of Nov. 3 made {a counter attack which for a time hindered operations. The attacking forces, according to the statement, are now gradually closing in. Shells are talling in the streets of the town and the powerhouse has been destroyed. On Nov. 4 the Japanese right cap- tured some small forts and an officer and twenty soldiers. Shells stfuck and burned the Bismarck barracks. Another Exodus From Antwerp. London, Nov. 6.—A dispatch to the Daily Mail from Rotterdam reports that there is another panic and a gen- eral exodus from Antwerp arising from the aggressive attitude of the Ger- mans because of 'their suspicion' that the Beigians set the petroleum tanks on fire.
