, PLEADING FOR RATE RAISE Railroad Carriers Heard by Interstate Commerce Commission. St. Louis, Dec. 1'.—The second day of the interstate commerce commis- sion’s hearing on railroad rates for bringing Illinois coal to St. Louis found representatives of the carriers still on the witness stand pleading to be permitted to collect the increase of 5% cents a ton which became ef- fective last April but which they were prevented from collecting by injunc- tions obtained by St. Louis dealers.
