That old crow ‘on Diamond Point certainly has a “bum steer.” Wrong Location Given. The Pioneer last week stated that William Cassler had sold his farm in Grant Valley for $2,5600. Mr. Cassler writes that the sale was for some un- lmproved land in the town of Bemidji. The Senior Class Plays. Class plays are usually most inter- esting to the people who have chil- dren or children of friends in the caste . But the plays tomorrow night are deserving of the attendance of every person in Bemidji who can af- l'orli to go. The young people have worked hard, Miss Knappen says that they are ready and it is certain that a finished production will be given. The Nelson Bill. The Nelson bill was reported out of the senate temperance committee today. Senator Putman, chairman of the committee, said over the phone vesterday that he believed the bill would pass the senate but would not pass the house, It is this bill which the people of Bemidji believe will relieve the peo- ple of Bemidji and many other Min- lesota towns of an overplus of sa- loons. The bill provides that the ratio shall not be more than one to| 500. In Bemidji at present, the ratio is thirty-four to 6,000. While the council has moved to cut the number down to seventeen, the Nelson bill would cut the number to eleven. If the people of Bemidji want the Nelson bill passed. they should leave no stone unturned to secure that end. ‘They should write not only to Sena- tor Nelson and Representative 0'Neill but to ev ry other senator or repre- sentative with whom they are ac- quainted. Should this bill tail of passage and the council decide not to pass the higher license resolution, there will be no relief for Bemidji this year. Another Marin Case. John McDonald, a bar tender in Dick Jones’ saloon in Deer River, was shot and killed Tuesday by an un-|] known Finnish lumberjack. The press raports say that on Monday the iinn went into the saloon and left some money in the care of the pro- prietor. Tuesday he called for his money and was handed ten dollars which the proprietor said was all that was due him The Finn left the saloon and did not return until Tuesday afternoon when he walked in and shot McDon- ald. It is believed in Deer River that he intended to kill Jones and made a mistake in his man. McDonald was oue of the best known bar tenders between Deer River and Duluth hav- ing tended bar in several of the towns on the Great Northern line. The shooting in Grand Rapids was practically a repetition of the Marin killing in Bemidji Fberuary 1, Au- gust Johnson, the man who Kkilled Marin, is now in Stillwater. The Finn will probably follow him there, But the fact remains that two lives have been lost and both because of money left with saloon menn by lum- berjacks. Not until the men learn to keep their money themselves and un- il the proprietors of saloons refuse to keep it for them and accept the subsequent risk ‘will such:.cases as cbese pass from the history of Nor- thern Minnesota. Incidentally, Judge Stanton wul probably. try the Finn as - he tried Johnson, Mitchell Cars Remember in considering the 1913 Mitchell cars that MODERATE PRICES---$1500, $1850 and $2500---never before gave you such full rounded out value! Mitchell policy has always been “To give the most for the money.” This year Mitchell shows how well the company has succeeded. All 1913 models are BIG. Wheel bases are 120, 132 and- 144 - inches. Think of the satisfying ease in such LONG cars having 36-inch wheels and ten-inch Turkish upholstry! It means that riding in these carsis “‘com- fort away above par.” It is comfort that CANNOT BE ATTA[NED in small or medium sized cars. Frames are narrowed in front to reduce the turning radius. There is a five percent “dish” to the wheels. Timken begrings in the front wheels combined with this feature ‘makes ‘it easier to handle these big, roomy cars than mauy smaller, shorter cars. Mitchell SIZE this year is something to cause comment; if ybu are.any judge of cars you will surely be surprised when you see the car and ride in it. 5 Passenger 6 Gylinder Touring Gar Price $1850 Full, Generous High Grade Equipment MITCHELL TOP OF BOSCH MAGCNETO silk mohair, curtains and dust envelope FIRESTONE Q.
