Cassler in his letter to be found else- where in this issue is one that de-|@ serves the serious consideration of the Commercial club. Already, buy- crs ave advertising for potatoes and during the tall many car loads will be shipped out of Bemidji and vi- cinity. With the exception of one house already established here, the produce business of Bemidji and vicinity has been handled by the Bemidji grocers. At one time an effort was made to keep a farmers’ co-operative market- ing association going but it fell by the wayside. The farmers want a market to which they can bring pro- duce any time of the year and from which they can take cash. it is not fair to expect the grocers of Bemidji to handle this business. It talkes a man who is an expert; one who has studied the markets, knows local conditions and knows how to make both meet in a way which will be profitable to the house and to the farmer. Grocers have not the time nor training for this. As a conse- quence, many times farmers have hauled in produce and found no mar- ket for it when they got here. There may be a legitimate reason why the Allen people have been un- able to get a warehouse in this city. It may also be that the difficulties they see may be overcome by a little judicious work on the part of the The creamery is furnishing a cash market for cream and butter.
