The sheriff turned over the commitment papers, and Dr. Dumas was registered. The deputy warden then took him || to the solitary, where he was meas- ured under the Bertilion system, and clad in a suit of khaki of the second grade. He will remain in the second grade on probation for six months, and then with good conduct, may be advanced to the first grade. At noon he joined the mess in a room adjacent to the cell house, and probably will be assigned to work in a factory today. He will be given a cell in the main cell house. He was registered as No. 3796, but will be given another cell number. All communication with friends was shut off when he entered the office in the executive building and he will be restricted to the prison regulation as to receiving visitors and ‘writing letters.
