Hubeyt Beard of Fargo has suc- cessfully passed the examinations re- quired of Rhodes Scholars and the state commission has confirmed the appointment. Mr. Beard, who is the son of Dr. Beard of the First Congressional church, of Fargo, has received training in Harvard Uni- versity and in Fargo College where he is now completing his course. ‘We can furnish a picture taken on Dec. 22 in time for Xmas pres- ent on Dec. 24. Heretofore - the patronage consisted chiefely of citizens of Nymore. Now however not only the Nymore people are still continuing to attend each evening, but a large crowd of Bemidji peo- ple are attending nightly. The Doctor announces his last night to- morrow night. The people of Ny- more regret to see the show leave, as the Doctor fulfilled every promise made by him. The best of fruit for the table or sick room in winter as in summer at Peterson’s. Little Miss Lois Davies went to Bem:dji this morning where she will visit for a couple of days at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Marcum. She is happily anticipating a Christmas spent in Chicago, where she will go next week, accompanying her aunt, Miss Helen Davies, of Grand Forks. They will spend Christmas witb 'Dr. Leora Davies and her mother, of this city, who 1s her guest for the winter. Dr. Davies has established the delightful custom of baving a Christmas tree in her apartments each Christmas eve for the children under twelve years old in her block, all of whom she knows, as her work takes her into all their homes. Last year there were ninety-eight of them and there will be as many this year and perhaps more. Miss Davies and Miss Lois will leave here next Wednesday evening in order to ar- rive in time to be with the merry makers on Christmas eve.—Crooks- ton Times. Geraldine Christopher, 8 months old, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Sevar B, Christopher of Brainerd, swallowed a coarse sewing needle and an operation known as ¢laparotomy” was performed yes- terday by Dr. Elmer Nicholson of the Northwestern hospital.
