It would be interest- ing to know who the Sentinel’s authority is. None of the leading citizens in this county know any- thing about it.—Clearwater Crystal The Northern Minnesota Editor- ial Association as it is now called has concluded its outing at Walker for the year 1910. It was a great outing and a most successful one. Walker and its public spirited citizens have proven themselves royal entertainers. To Dare, the man who pilots the Walker Pilot, belongs much. of the credit for such a decidedly success- ful meeting. It was more thana successful meeting. Everything was with us but the weather man, and he was there also, but the spirits of the editors could not be subdued by the weather man. The associa- tion, through its president ably extended the Walker entertainers its appreciation. Mackenzie’s pet idea became a part of the resolutions adopted by the Northern Minnesota Editoria) association. The association has also included the 31 countries that made up the Northern Minnesota Development association. Judge Stanton, when making a few re- marks Sunday evening, paid a com- pliment to W. R. Mackenzie, refer- ring to him as ‘“the man in whose mind originated the development idea” which has now become the largest organization of its kind in the United States. Mackenzie is recognized, not only in this state but throughout the entire northWwest as the premier booster for the state in which he lives. As a booster few states can boost of one that is his equal. He is the man that does things. At each success- ful meeting in years to come there will be none held in which his ,bame will not be mentioned. It is achieving fame and the Wilton farmer is deserving of it. DISCOVERED. “Northern Minnesota was dis- covered at Bemidji.” If proof of this is needed, we instance the delegations from the Twin Cities at Crookston and the space given the reports of the two meetings in the St. Paul and Minneapolisinews- papers. ‘The Lord helps those who “help themselves, and men give heed to those who appreciate their “own power and their own rights. The mountain has been traveling to the shrie of Mohammed for these many years, and at last Mohammed has packed his trunk and has come to the mountain. Not only this, but . for three days the daily press of the Twin Cities has reenforced the press of Duluth with from a few columns to three and four pages of the best sort of advertising for this section of our state. The value of such addresses as those of C. P. Craig, W. M. Hays, Dean Woods, A. J. McGuire and others to Northern Minnesota, when given such publicity, cannot be overestimated.—Duluth News Tri. bune. —_— OUR SUPERS HOME LAND. All Hail to Crookston! Bemidji set the pace and Crookston kept ‘it. Never was a convention better re- ceived, more cordially welcomed: or more royally entertained. The arrangements were complete to the last detail, and the Queen City: of the Red River valley has a warmer place then ever in the hearts” of all this splendid northland. Duluth and the range delegates traveled 300 miles to the convention. They started early and were among the first to arrive; they stayed late and were among the last to leave. But their only regret was that they could not stay longer, so charmed were they with the beauty of Crooks- ton with its fine paved streets, its. handsome business blocks, its many. industries, its pretty homes, the winding river, the splendid citizen- ship of its population and the mag- nificent farming territory of which it is the center. It was a source of rride, too, to every delegate from St. Louis county, that for all that 300 miles through forest and over prairie he was .at home. nesota, of which he wasa part and to which St. Louis county belongs. The mother and the boy, Earl, had been slain in the house, their heads also having been- crushed. Raymond Hardey spent the evening with a girl, Mabel Starnes, and claims; to have found the bodies when he got home, shortly after midnight. He gave the alarm to neighbors an hour later. Neighbors say Raymond Hardey was a quiet, inoffensive boy and are at a loss to account for a motive. Bureau drawers in the house had been ransacked and pocketbooks opened, but small sums of money found on the persons of both the fath- er and dead brother amnd the watch worn by the latter had not been touched. 5 Raymond Hardey was to have been married next Wednesday to Mabel Starnes of the same neighborhood.
