Mr. Tone stated that he has been living on his homestead, near Northome for several months past, but that he intends to soon move into Northome and resume the practice of law with even more diligence than heretofore. Kills Woman Who Rebuffed Him. ‘Wabash, Ind., March 26.—After hav- ing fatally wounded Mrs. Floyd J. ‘Webb, the wife of his friend, with a shotgun Verne Hartleroad hurried to the county jail and placed himself un- der the protection of the sheriff. Hartleroad said he had fallen in love with Mrs. Webb and that she rebuffed him. Alleged Embezzler to Wed. Cambridge, Mass., March 26.—De- spite the fact that he will probably be tried within a month on a charge of embezzling $250,000 from the National City bank of Cambridge George W. Paris, March 26.—Rosella Bosch will be the first woman guillotined in France since the revolution, unless President Fallieres commutes her death sentence. Pueblo, Colo, March 26.—An un- identified Black Hand worker was shot through the heart and instantly killed in a fight with a sheriff’s posse, head- ed by Under Sherift Warren Hill. A companion escaped on horseback, but 18 believed to have been wounded. The shooting followed threats made to Toni Santuso ordering him to place $2,000 at a point several miles beyond the county poor farm. He complied with the demand and when two men were taking the money the sheriff’s posse ordered them to throw up their hands. They refused and opened fire. Des Moines, March 26.—Irene Blagg, aged six, of Corydon was burned to death on her way home from school. ‘With companions she stopped to watch a burning tree, got too near and her clothing caught fire.
