French of this city, candidate for re-election to the office of county treasurer, went to Black- duck Saturday evening on business and returned to the city this morn- ing. 2 William Bruce, who runs the Crookston Lumber company’s store at Fowlds, went to Kelliher Satur- day night to spend Sunday at his home, returning to Fowlds this morning. Phil Gill, of the clothing firm of Gill Bros. of this city, went to Minneapolis last evening on a com- bined business and pleasure trip. Mr. Gill expects to be absent about two weeks. & Herman Olson formerly of this city but now senior partner of the firm of Olson & Rood of Brainerd, came in Saturday evening from that place for a short visit among the local business men. We have 2000 feet of best grade lawn hose and large assortment of nozzles and sprinklers which we do not care to carry over therefore for the next few days we will sell these at cost. D., and left on the even- ing train for his home. ~Mr. Wilson has a farm in North Dakota and reports that the crops are very good. Miss Inga Brynildson, who is employed as stenographer .in the office of the Bemidji Pioneer, went to Thief River Falls Saturday after- noon to spend Sunday at her home and returned to the city on this noon’s train. Sam Cone, the popular traveling man who makes his headquarters at Duluth, went to Bagley Saturday afternoon on business. As Sam was very hoarse from the effects of his recent speech at Northome, he allowed (just as a favor) Louis: Latrup, who travels for the Minne- apolis Drug company, to deliver one of his written speeches at Bagley. Miss Laura Johnson returned to Eau Claire, Wis., this morning after visiting for two weeks with her uncle, O. M. Greenlund of this city. Mrs. F. M. Malzahn and children of this city left this morning for Minneapolis where she was called by news of her mother’s illness. Mrs. E. N. French returned to the city this morning from. Black- duck where she has been visiting at the home of her brother, J.C. Thompson. Mr. and Mrs, William Johnson returned to St. Paul this morning after enjoying a weeks’ visit at the home of Mr. Johnson’s brother, C. G. of this city. A. Miss Beulah Brannon of this city went to Minneapolis this morning to help Miss Walsmith select the stock of millinery for their new millinery shop which is to be located in O’Leary & Bowser’s store. Mrs. T. S. Andrews, mother of “A. A. Andrews of this city, and the latter’s two little girls returned to Minneapolis this morning after enjoying a two weeks, visit at the Andrews home in this city. ‘A rumor comes to us in a round- about way from Blackduck, that A. O’Kelliher, the popular “Duck” druggist, intends to move his gamily to Minneapolis to make his future home in that city. His many friends in this city would be sorry to lose “Jerry” and we sincerely hope that the rumor isn’t true. Mrs. Maude Smythe and chxldren, accumplmed by Misses Nellie 8hannon, Taylor, Eva Getchell and Estella Gracie returned to tae city Saturday afternoon from Ferris where they gave a very delightful concert Friday evening. The case of the state of Minne. sota against Hazel Lester, charged with securing money from a man who was drunk in one of the saloons |} in this city three weeks ago, was taken up this morning before Judge Simons and the case was dismissed for want of prosecution, as the com- plaining witness had disappeared. Democratic State Convestion. A delegate conventionof the Democrats of Minnesota will be held at the .Auditorium, in the city of Minneapolis, on Wednesday, August 19, 1908 at 11 o'clock, a. m., for the purpose of nominating candidates for Gov- ernor, Lieutenant Governor, Sectretary of State, State Treasurer, Attorney General, and two Kailroad and Warehouse Commis- stoners, to be voted for at the general election Tuesday, November 3, 1908, and for the transaction of such other business as may properly be brought before 1t. ‘The basis of representation of the several countles shall be three delegates at large and one additional delezate for each 250 votes general election of 196, Beltrami county will be entitled to eight delegates, The county conventions to select delegates 0 the State convention aforesaid wiil be held on Friday. August 14, 1908, at such time and in such place as will be fixed by the Demo- cratic County Central Committees. The primary election for the selection of delegates to the county convention aforesaid shall be held at the usual polling place in each precinct on Wednesday, August 12, 1908, at such hour as may be fixed by the Democratic County Central Committees of the several counties of the state. Attorney General and two Railroad and Warehouse Commissloners. to be voted for at the next general election, and for the trans- action of such other business asmay properly come before the sald convention.
