Irvine, whose father is the proprietor of the St. Cloud Roller Mills, was in the city today soliciting business for the St. Cloud mills. George Kirk, the logger, .returned yesterday evening to his logging camps at Northome, where he is putting a large quantity of logs this winter. B. L. Fairbanks of White Earth came to the city last night from Cass Lake and appeared in justice court this forenoon in a case in which he is interested. R. ‘A. Muncy, cruiser for the Crookston Lumber Co., returned last evening from Royalton, Minn., where he went to attend the funeral of a daughter of his brother, G. W. Muncy. W. E. Knox, a resident of Antlers, N. D,, arrived in the city last even- ing for avisit at the home of his brother, C. J. Knox, Bemidji’s chief of police. This is W. E.’s first visit to Bemidji. E. A. Kremer, a prominent busi- ness man of Grand Rapids, came over from the “Rapids” yesterday afternoon and went to the ‘“north country” on the M. & I. passenger train last evening. D. M. Price of Grand Rapids, general manager for the St. Croix Cedar company, came in yesterday afternoon from his home and left last evening for Funkley to visit some camps which are being operated by his company. Mr. Crone was at one time in partnership in this city with Mr. Anderson, at the Lake- shore hotel. Mr. Crone is now operating a saloon and hotel at Mizpah, and he returned to that place last evening, J. W. Smith, the Turtle River meat dealer, who is also interested in considerable estate at.“Turtle,” came down from his home on yester- day’s delayed M. & I. passenger train and spent the remainder of the day in the city, returning home last evening. Mr. Smith states that business has been rather quite in Turtle River since the beginning of the new year 1908. Garry Brennan left last evening for Hines Spur, near which place he will look after some bridge building. McAvity, the logger, passed through the city this morning from Blackduck to Minneapolis, where he will purchase horses for use in his near Blackduck. Mr. McAvity will cut about three Blackduck. James Quay, a resident of Cass Lake, came over from the ‘‘Lake” yesterday afternoon and last evening went to Blackduck to work in a logging camp near that place for the balance of the winter. P. O. Stephens, who is dealing in land and has headquarters at Detroit, Minn., was in the city today.. Mr. Stephens came down this' morning from Margie, where he has a valuable claim. He left this afternoon for Detroit. C. H. Lydick of Anoka was trans- acting business in Bemidji yester- day. Mr. Lydick had been to the camps of Davis & Ferguson, near Blackduck, and stopped in this city| on his way down yesterday.
