v THE BEMIDJI DAILY P VOLUME 5. NUMBER 229. ) MINNESOTA HISTORICAL CIETY. * BEMIDJI, MINNESOTA,VTHUR.SDAY EVENING, JANUARY 16, 1908. $50,000 BUILDING FOR THIS CITY Congressman Steenerson Introduces Bill for the Appropriation for Federal Building. The Minneapolis Tribune of yesterday contained the fol- lowing specia telegram from Washington relative to a- pros- pective federal building for Bemidji: “Washington, Jan. 15.—(Special.)—A $50,000 public building at Bemidji, Minn., and a similar structure at Moorhead are provided Congressman Steenerson.” for in bills introduced in the house yesterday by E. E. McDonald states to the Pioneer that Congressman Steenerson has had under contemplation and preparation for some time a ill granting an appropriation of $50,000 for a public building in this city; in fact, the Bemidji Townsite com- pany has reserved the block east of the court house as a possible site for the building. It is more than likely that the above bill will pass, as it is the first application ever made by this part of the state for a federal appropriation. Congressman Steenerson last session secured an appropriation of $50,000 for a federal building at Crookston, which amount was last week raised to $90,000.
