IN VIEW of the important and puzzling problems which the city of Bemidji has to face 1n begin- ning its legal existence, the most important agent of the board of aldermen will be the finance committee. With this committe rests the responsibility for the successful financial management of the city. The committee faces the fact that fthe city has not revenues enough to meet expenditures for current expenses and it has also to con- tend with the fact thatthe city has a considerable indebtedness, which by good business manage- ment, must be steadily reduced. But not only has the finance these difficulties to contend with but it must at the same time provide funds for various permanent improve- ments now so greatly needed.
