White has discontinued logging at his camps at Kelliher and a part of the crew employed at the camps came to Bemidji this morning. Mr. White will imme- adiately make arrangements for hoisting logs at Turtle River, Blackduck and Bullhead lake. 'Cement the Street. Contracts have been concluded with J. H. Crouch for cement sidewalks for practically the en- tire length of Bemidji avenueand Mr. Crouch is now pushing the work as rapidly as possible. 1! was feared for a time that.the Townsite company would not put in their walks this season but it now practically certain that they will. Morrison Lectured. Dr. W. R. Morrison ' Saturday afternoon gave a lecture before the teachers attending the sum- mer training school. Dr. Morri. son'spoke upon the eye and the manner of detecting defective vision in school children, Al though his time was limited, the doctor made a very interesting and instructive address and his precise and clear statments on the subject were much appre- ciated by his audience. Attended Mother’s Funeral. John C. Larson returned Sat- urday night from Fosston, where he attended the funeral of his mother, Mrs. L. B. Larson, which took place Saturday afternoon. Senator E. J. Swedback today received from Detroit, Mich., an all steel launch which will be put into commission on Lake Be- ridji and Irvine.
