On account of the Rainy weather on the Fourth the people of this vicinity did not celebrate as they had planned. Several of the Moose Lakers, however, gathered at the Lone home and spent a very pleasant day. Danc ing was indulged in until the“wee small hours™ and all present re port a general good time in spite of the inclemency of the weather. Walter T. Webster made a trip to Tenstrike and Bemidji last week, His mother, Mrs. H. M. Webster, and nephew, Leslie, re turned with him to spend the summer. Quite a force of men was at work on the road between the postoffice and Websters’ Satur- day. They fixed the road in pretty good shape, bridging in one place and corduroying and brushing others., The men employed were Messrs. Ingebright Talsness, Ben A. Ronning, A. J. Hinsverk, A. O. Anderson, Thorvald Han- son and E. D. Bentley. John Malmquist, Pete Osberg and Fred F. Peterson made a business trip to Cass Lake last week. The masons and carpenters now at work on the new Brink- man hotel started the construc- tion of the third story of thejbuild- ing this afternoon. Winnipeg Exposition and Fair. On account of the Winnipeg Exposition and Fair held at Winanipeg, Manitoba, July 20 to 28, the Great Northern Railway will aell tickets at one fare for the round trip to Winnipeg. Nels Sorenson, a farmer living near Solway,yesterday afternoon broke his leg and was taken to St. Anthony’s hospital in Be midji for treatment. Mr. Soren- son was pulling stumps on his homestead when the accident oc- curred. Ball Game Tonight. A base ball game will be played this evening at the old base ball gnounds between the retail clerks of the city and the Crooks ton Lumber company’s office em ploys.
