Blackduck, May 19.—Martha, Death. Miller, alias Stéin Kanp, sur- rendered” himself to the police and acknowledged stabbing Charles Dolman to death eatly yesterday morning at Fargo. After the crime Miller wert to | Moorhead and remained. around the saloons some time und later went to Glydon, ten miles east. By that time the excitement of the crime had passed away and Late yesterd u[temoon Nick R A STONE PRESENTS ARGU Mentertainment * Isufficient the three year old daughter of Mr, and Mrs. W. G. Country- man, was drowned this morning about 9 o’clock. The little one had wandered away from the house and was not missed by its mother until Arthur Michaels, a lad of 16, went to the Countryman well to draw a pail of water, when he discovered the body of the unfortunate child in the hottom of the well. - Medical assistance was sum- moned as soon as possible and the body removed to the Black- duck hospital where everything was done to revive the child, but of no ayail. It is believed that the little girl was playing near the well and accidentally fell in. The funeral over the remains is being held at Blackduck thxs afternoon. An Excellent Entertainment. Burns’ hall was filled to its ut-| most capacity last Saturday even- ing to witness the entertainment given by the ladies dramatic as- sociation. As a rule, amateur| plays are mot well rendered. Those that take part do not seem to appreciate the meaning of the author of the play and as a result the performances fall flat. With- out desiring to be fulsome in our praise of the entertainment giv®n by the members of the associa. tion, we but echo the consensus of opinion, when we state that every character represented in the comedy of “The Detective in Petticoats’’ was excellent and in to be played. The smoothness in which the went off was evidence that the young ladies had given a vast; mount of time and study to the respective characters they rep- resented. The stage settings 'were in most admirable taste and ood judgment. The costumes ‘were very appropriate and the overtures by Beebe’s orchestra could not have been better. The cast was as follows: Detective...... Mrs. Warrington. Octavia Frothingham.. yrtle Mc ('ur\l\ Jessie Lu(lwx 3 Lulu Tuttle La ke Voice. Play Ball Tomorrow. The Blackduck and Tenstrike base ball teams will meet to- morrow afternoon on the Black- duck grounds. Miller says that Dol man struck at him. Miller ran and was pursued by Dolman who struck Miller again, breaking the club. Then Miller stabbed Dol- man through the heart. He re turned to the Clark woman’s and fled.
