One female moose or caribou may be lawfully killed by each hunter during the big game sea- son according to an amendment to the game laws introduced in the house yesterday by repre- sentative I. W. Bouck of Royal- ton. The bill amends the law by striking out the word “male” in the law, making it legal to shoot one moose or caribou during the open season regardless of sex. Representative Bouch says that hunters in the woods do not stop to ascertain whether the moose is-a male or female when they shoot, and frequently are unable’to tell whether or not the animal has horns. If they find they have killed a female moose the carcass is either left in the woods to decay or only a small portion of it is carried away. The law, he says, does not prevent the killing of female moose, but simply prohibits bring carcasses out. He believes since they are killed anyway, the penalty should may be used and the animal counted as the one allowed killed by law. Perfect Confidence. .
