Stated That Road is Aiming|tion- For That Point and Thief River Falls. While no official confirmation is youchsafed, Thief Riyer Falls business men are assured that the Soo line will build northeast from that town to the Rainy Lake country, possibly Kooch- iching. The information leaked out in a conference regarding some privileges asked by the management in that town, includ- ing first 30 acres for terminals, and later, as a substitute, the va- cation of certain streets for right of way. It was promised the townspeople, it is stated, that following the improvements made by the company, Thief River Falls would double in- size during the year following the changes. Such an extension by the Soo line would tap a fine timber country and if continued to In- ternational Falls would give the road traffic which is being sought by the Great Northern in an ex- tension for the same town. Min- neapolis -capital is to be ex- pended in large sums on both sides of the river at International Falls in the development of its industries and of the region ly- ing about. Claims against the estate of Jerome Kelliher, bankrupt, of Brainerd, Minn., were heard in the United States court at Duluth this week. Mr. Kelliher former- ly owned considerly real estate in Bemidji. A mortgage of$§5,000 on the property, held by a Chicago man, was thrown out, it is said, as being fraudulent and ficticious, The present value of the prop- erty is about $10,000. Wanted Wolf Bounty. L. W. Aldrich of the town of Eckles applied to the county au- ditor for bounty upon a wolf which he had killed but the bounty was not granted en ac- count of some irregularity in the certiflcate from the clerk of the town in which the wolf was killed which is necessary to secure the bounty. Telephone Scheme. A project has been started by C. A, Walker, owner of the Brai- nerd telephone system, to build a line from Brainera to Walker, along the M. & 1. taking in Jen- kins. Pequot, Pine River, Mil- dred and Hackensack, with con- nections here and at Brainerd with the N. W. Telephone sys- tem, 'giving “service to the Twin Cities, Duluth etc. The first work to be done is to secure the right of way for the erection of poles and Mr. Walker is getting the names of the owners cf land along the proposed route. -His plan for raising money to carry on the project is to sell coupons to those interested in each of the towns, these coupons being taken in exchange for telephone services over the line.
