HOOTS AND CAT CALLS WHEN PETERSON SPOKE. Lind Addmitted That He Had No Evidence to Support His Charges. L. H. Bailey returned this morning from Minneapolis, where he has been since Sunday. He attended the mass meeting Mon- day night when the joint debate took place between James A. Peterson and John A. Lind upon the question of the record of Hon. Robert C. Dunn as state audi- tor. Mr. Bailey declares that the hall was packed early in the evening by Johnson supporters and that not one man in four ir .| the audience was a republican. .| He says that thousands were un- able to gain admittance to the hall. When Lind spoke the au- dience sat quiet in their seats but as soon as Mr. Peterson be- gan the crowd yelled and hooted and made such rowdy demon- strations that much of the time it was impossible for him to make himself heard. Mr. Lind adwmitted that he had said that Mr. Dunn was a splen- did auditor and declared that he still stood by that statement. He re-iterated his statement that Dunn was reckless, but said that he could not find any proof for it. He had simply ‘‘heard so.” Mr. Bailey says that Minne- apolis is the storm centre of the fight for governor. From a care- ful estimate of the vote from re- ports from all parts-of the state he estimates that Dunn’s ma- jority will be 25,000. State of Ohio, City of Toledo, Lucas County.—ss. Frank J.
