A meeting of the Scandinavian Workmen'’s asssociation was held last night and speeches were made by Grand President Nelson John Wilmanu, I. B, Olson and a number of other members of the order. The lodge in this city is at present in a very flourishing condition and new members are of the society. Harvest Home Social. A harvest home social was held at the M. E. parsonage Wednes- day evening in honor of Rev. J. B. Smith. About forty guests congregated at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Porter Nye and from there went to the parsonage, bringing with them a large amount of vegatables which were presented to Rev. Smith. Mr. Smith ac epted the gifts and in a neat sprach thanked the donors. Refreshments were served and all those in “attend- ance report a very enjoyable time. Chamberiain’s Cough Remedy. The con tract was awarded at a meeting for the construction of the sewer according to plans and specifica- tions drawn by M. D. Stoner, of Bemidji, engineer for the village. Bids were submitted by three different concerns, viz: Chas. E. Battles, of Cass Lake; Jerrard Plumbing Co., of Bemidji, and O. F. Doyle, of St. Cloud. The con- tract was awarded to Mr. Battles, the local contractor, whose bid was $25 lower than his nearest competitor, Mr. Doyle. Hub of the Universe.
